Supporting Families–Just Like Ours
When my wife and I got married, we decided to find a charity we could give to that had special meaning for both of us. As we thought about it, my wife described the difficult time when her niece Vanessa was born with a birth defect. Vanessa had to be transferred to another hospital, and her parents found a place to stay at a Ronald McDonald House for two weeks during her care.
I was born with a congenital heart defect and as a child had two open-heart surgeries and several procedures in the hospital. Looking back on my time as a child patient, I can appreciate the importance of having your family with you and knowing that they are free to focus on your care.
Given these experiences, and finding that the charity has high marks for financial accountability, we decided to contribute to Ronald McDonald House Charities.
Faith in our decision was confirmed last year, when our son Samuel was born prematurely and spent the first few weeks of his life in the NICU. With a newborn in the NICU and a 1-year-old at home, it was difficult to juggle logistics, even with a hospital nearby and parents that were very helpful. While we were fortunate enough not to need the local Ronald McDonald House, we understood, again, how vital it is to be close to the hospital when your child is a patient.
We're proud to partner with RMHC because we know our donations make a difference for families similar to our own. And we encourage you to consider your own support of RMHC’s mission—whether now or in the future.
